You may have seen articles, books and other writings on losing weight, or growing a business, etc. All good stuff. But as self-improvement grows and we further ourselves into an age where we can access lots of information easily(internet), much of the writings out there age fast and give off an I’ve-already-seen-that-before feel.
For example,
A report, Double Your Profits,
or
An article, How to Lose Weight
Nice, but ho-hum. I’ll skip that one.
And, as you know, a key to getting people curious about your coaching, and onto your email list, is to give them a free, valuable, helpful piece of information. It’s commonly called your freebie.
Oh, and I also need to point out, that your freebie title is the deal breaker. A good title will get people to want it even if the content is garbage. It’s the title that makes them decide to download it or not. (No, don’t put out garbage. Make the content awesome! It gets your freebie passed on to others and spreads your name.)
Needless to say, a bad title won’t get downloaded much and people won’t learn or hear about your coaching.
So, how do you turn a ho-hum freebie into a must-have-now freebie?
One super way is to give it a uniqueness factor. A uniqueness factor takes something common and makes it uncommon. This can be done in a number of ways.
Let me show you 3 ways.
1. You could add a time frame to your title.
Double Your Profits in 3 Months or Less
How to Lose Weight – Permanently
2. You could target your report.
Double Your Profits for Work at Home Women
Office Commuters Tips to Losing Weight
3. You could remove a common limitation.
Double Your Profits without Adding More Work
How to Lose Weight by Eating More
Yes, you should be confident that the claim in your title is achievable. Nice too if you’ve achieved them or have seen others achieve them.
Oh, and a side note, make your uniqueness factor valuable. Don’t do something like, Double Your Profits with 10 Hours More per Week, or How to Lose Weight for Runners. I think you get the idea.
Use this uniqueness factor to make your freebies more valuable and watch more people get on your list, more people contact you for coaching, and more people spreading your name.

Thank you Kenn! I’m in the process of creating a teleclass for
resolutions and goals in 2010. You’ve not only helped me with the

Greaet post, Kenn – your headline is soooooo important. I
especially liked that you gave some examples, both good and bad, so
we can determine the difference. Very helpful!
Ken, This was so helpful! Since I find myself lately choosing to
click on free offers less often, I wonder how valuable others see
my offers. I appreciate how you suggested we differentiate our
freebie offers.
Thank you Kenn for the information. Adding those extra words did
change the impact. Thanks, Judith
