NCC Coaching Trends 2009 Interview #7: Julia Stewart

NCC Coaching Trends 2009 Interview No. 7: Julia Stewart

Julia Stewart

My first exposure to Julia Stewart came when I signed up for a teleclass on buddy coaches she led just after I learned about Thomas Leonard and Coachville.com. Thomas had died a few months before, but his legacy still carries on in coaches like Julia. (BTW, I connected with a couple of incredible coaches who were also on that teleclass, Linda Hodge and Beth Lyons, and formed a triad to hone our coaching skills. Thanks, Julia!)

Since that time Julia and I have touched base from time to time, and I have followed her career. Julia is a member of the New Coach Connection discussion list, as all our guests in this series have been.

Julia started out as a health and fitness coach, but discovered that she loved coach training and mentoring. On this call she tells the story of how she started the School of Coaching Mastery, a program based on the coaching masteries of the International Association of Coaching. (I still called the IAC by its old name, the International Association of Coaches in this interview).

In addition to coach training and certification, Julia addressed the fears of the current economy that many coaches are experiencing. She sees opportunities to grow your business rather than dreading failure. As Julia pointed out on this call, many of the most successful businesses were begun in previous periods of economic crisis. This has been a consistent message from our experts in this series–life is what you make it, not what circumstances dictate.

This was another great call. Listen and learn! ;-)
