What Is the New Coach Connection?
The New Coach Connection (NCC) is a warm and supportive coaching discussion list hosted at Yahoo Groups. It is an independent community, and members come from many different coach training programs or no coach training at all.
Who Are the Members of the NCC?
This community is comprised chiefly of new and experienced professional coaches who are seeking ways to collaborate, connect, and create awesome experiences in the coaching profession. There are also members who are professionals who support coaches, such as virtual assistants, web designers, and others. See the NCC Marketplace to visit the websites of some of our members in a wide variety of market niches, such as ADD coach, business coach, career coach, corporate coach, executive coach, life coach, marketing coach, mentor coach, parenting coach, personal development coach, relationship coach, and retirement coach, among others. (Note: Even though the NCC is listed in Yahoo Sports, it is not geared for sports-related coaches.)
Where Do NCC Members Live?
The NCC is an international community. The majority of members are from the U.S.A., but there are many from Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, too. The NCC has members from New Zealand, Korea, Hong Kong, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and several other countries as well. All are welcome!
When Was the NCC Established?
This community began in June of 2000 as a result of a 5-day workshop on Coaching As Your Next Career. Many of the participants were very interested in maintaining the connection. Quite a few of these new coaches would send inspiration and/or resource links to each other via email. In July of 2001, we moved over to a Yahoo Group where we have grown from 10 coaches to more than 200 coaches in the first few years. When we reached 200 members, we were more then just a discussion list and have affectionately grown to become a very supportive community.
How Many Members Are There Now?
The total membership of the NCC was 880 on April 3, 2008. The group is currently growing by 30-35 new members a month.
Why Is the NCC Listed in Yahoo Sports instead of another category in the Yahoo Groups Directory?
Back in 2001 professional coaching in its many forms was not very well known. Yahoo insisted that a group for coaches be listed in the sports section, even though Candye Hinton, NCC Founder, told them it was not the right placement. Now the NCC Yahoo Group address can be written without including "sports" in the URL (http://groups.yahoo.com/ group/newcoachconnection/), but the group remains in its original category.
What Is the Cost to Join?
The NCC is free to join. We are solely supported through donations and advertisements. The only requirement is that you participate in conversations on our discussion board on topics that are relevant to you.
How Do I Join the NCC?
If you are a new or experienced coach who would like to be a part of a growing and supportive community, you can join FREE by signing up at New Coach Connection Yahoo Group (or click on the Yahoo Groups Join Now button in the sidebar on the left). If you are not a member of Yahoo Groups, you will be re-directed to sign up on their main page at no charge.
How Do I Know I Belong?
This community is a group of many different coaches. We are a safe place to belong regardless of your race, religious preference, economic status or which coaching school you have attended - or not. Our coaches are life coaches, executive coaches, business coaches, financial coaches, and even clown coaches! If you are a coach, you belong here.
What Topics Are Discussed on the List?
Many different topics are discussed every day. Coaching techniques, approaches and results are discussed by coaches with every level of experience. We also discuss being self-employed business owners. Discussions about marketing and networking are on-going. We even have a "Free Friday" to allow coaches to shamelessly market to our safe community.
You are welcome to reply to any thread of conversation at any time. Daily topics are suggested, and other topics come up as members post.
