NCC Common Courtesies

The New Coach Connection is a virtual community comprised of new and experienced
professional coaches who are seeking ways to collaborate, connect, and create
awesome experiences. Professionals who support coaches, such as virtual
assistants and web designers, are also welcome. This community consists of many
different kinds of coaches, including ADD coaches, business coaches, career
coaches, corporate coaches, executive coaches, life coaches, marketing coaches,
mentor coaches, parenting coaches, relationship coaches, retirement coaches, and
even clown coaches.

We are a safe place to belong regardless of your race, religious preference, or
economic status. The NCC is an independent community–it doesn’t matter what
coaching school you attended, if any at all. If you are a professional coach or
coaching support professional, you belong here.

There is only ONE RULE for the list: Keep this a safe environment for our
members to connect with each other. A safe list includes expressing a difference
in opinion but not chastising anyone who has a different viewpoint.

The group list is specifically created for coaches about coaches who have
questions, comments, and resources for other coaches. All discussions
appropriate to coaching in any way are permitted. HOWEVER, promotions of any
kind (fee or free) are not permitted between Monday-Thursday to keep the list
strictly for discussion purposes.

In order to provide structure, however, and to make the New Coach Connection
discussion list valuable for everyone, here are some common courtesies that we
ask you to review when posting the list.

1. List Topics

We urge you to participate actively. Let other members know who you are. Share
about your coaching practice. If you have a coaching problem, issue, or concern,
ask it here. If you feel that you can contribute to someone else, please do
(without offering your services or products).

In addition to encouraging you to ask questions any time, we have suggested
themed days for our group that serve as discussion starters.  ALL questions are
fine on any day as long as there is nothing promotional. (Affiliate links must
be declared as such.)

  • Monday Musings – a time to talk about what inspires you, what you are
trying to achieve in your life that is of lasting value, and how you can
contribute to the community and the worl
  • Coaching Corner Tuesday – a time
to talk about coaching skills, techniques, case studies, training,
    certification, and all things coaching
  • Business-Building Wednesday - a time
to talk about how to get new clients via marketing, networking, social media,
    and other methods
  • Techie Tip Thursday – a time to share a tip about the use
of technology in your business (ask tech questions any day)
  • Free Friday – an open day when you can promote your products and services
  • Weekends - promos are also allowed

We save FRIDAY for our FREE day. This is the day to shamelessly promote any
events, products, or programs you would like other list members to be aware of.
We also ask that on this day to share any personal reflection pieces, poems, or
stories. Poetry, quotes, etc. ALL GOES ON FRIDAY!

You may ask a question or share a comment or resource on any topic on any day,
regardless of the theme for the day. The exception is Free Friday, which is the
ONLY day to post promos. List moderators may post invitations to official NCC
events on any day.

Everyone is addressed– we will never let a question come through to the NCC
list without a response.

2. Deleting Previous Message

When replying to a post, take the time to delete the previous message if it is
appended to your reply. If you do not do this, people receiving the digest
version of this list must scroll through each one of these appended messages to
see the next new post.

3. Message Subject

When posting in reply to a message, please change the subject if it no longer
applies to the content of what you are posting. This helps others determine if
they wish to read your message or to find it later.

4. Personal Replies

When someone requests a personal reply, please respond to him or her privately
instead of through the list. (NOTE:  The default is for responses to go to the
entire list, so you must specifically click on the person’s e-mail address for a
private reply.)  If you are requesting a personal reply, type your email address
in the body of your message to make it easy for those who respond. If you wish
to reply to someone who has not done this and their address is not visible, with
many email programs you can find the sender’s address by right clicking on the
message and choosing “Properties.” You can also find it by visiting the list
website and viewing the message there. The site address is:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/newcoachconnection/

5. One-Liners

Refrain from sending one-line responses like “congratulations,” “thanks for your
help,” and “go for it” to the list. These messages are more appropriately sent
as personal replies.

6. Advertising on the NCC

Advertising teleclasses or live events, even if they are free or for someone
other than yourself, should be placed on the calendar, as an event. Please
change the reminder setting to “No Reminders” for your events.

You may post a promo for your products or services on Free Friday and the
weekend. Promos, whether fee or free or for yourself or someone else, may only
be posted on these days.

Posts may contain a signature box with brief ads. There is no size limit, but
please make these short so they do not take up a lot of space in the digest
edition of messages.

You may include affiliate links in posts if they are clearly identified as such.
This information is required in order for members to evaluate any
recommendations you may make.

You can also list your website or blog on the NCC Find a Coach directory at no
charge. Go to:
